Solar panel kits

There are many types of DIY Solar Panel Kits. Buying a DIY Solar Panel Kit and building your own solar panels is more cost-effective compared to buying a ready-made solar panel. You can potentially save hundreds if not thousands of dollar depending on how large your project is.

Basic DIY solar panel kits will consist of the follow items and materials:

1. Solar cells - mostly, the type of solar cells you will be getting is the mono-crystalline type. But don't be surprise if you get the poly-crystalline or amorphous type. The difference between is the efficiency of the cell. The mono-crystalline type is most suitable for larger needs. Where as, Poly-crystalline type are less power needs. Amorphous are more suitable for powering small items like calculator or garden lamps.

2. Plywood - Important material for building the frames to house your solar cells. It is better for you to get plywood in large sheets so that you can cut and customize till your requirement.

3. Glass Sheets or Plexiglass - Another important material that will be use to protect your solar cells from weather.

4. Copper wire - Will be used for connecting the cells and panels up.

5. A Manual - Plans, Drawings and Instructions that you can follow to build your DIY Solar Panels.

Of course you will need silicon caulk, nails & screws, coaters to protect the plywood from moist and other important tools that will be use to construction purposes.

You don't necessarily have to buy packaged DIY solar panel kits. You can just buy the materials and items individually and save even more money. Then again, if you buying the materials and items individually, there's more work to be done. More work on your solar panel means more weekend fun!
